"Flood
Stop" Flood Protection
Oil Stop Delivers;
AMPOL Installs
An
Oil Stop customer in New Iberia, La. wanted to enhance their flood
protection around their facility. They needed something temporary
and relatively easy to install in the event of a flood threat. The
Oil Stop "Flood Stop" was just the ticket. Flood Stop
is manufactured using PVC coated material in the form of 100 feet
long x 19-inch diameter tubes. In use, the tubes are filled with
water and create a seal to keep flood waters from passing the
barrier. Flood Stop is a superior alternative to sand bags
and it is reusable. Additional height for protection is accomplished
by pyramiding the tubes. This customer desired a minimum of 3 feet
of protection. A set of six tubes were used, with three on the
bottom layer, two tubes atop the bottom three, and one tube atop of
the middle two. The 100 feet long tubes are connected together using
special sleeves to create continuous rings around the property. In
this case a 600 feet ring was built using 3600 feet of Flood Stop.
The
customer took delivery recently. As part of our service we had AMPOL
supervisors and technicians on hand to demonstrate the installation
process. For the purposes of the orientation, air was used to fill
the tubes instead of water. The client had their personnel in
attendance and afterwards was confident the Flood Stop could
be installed in a timely manner and would be effective.
Flood
Stop can be used to protect private property, municipal
buildings, and enhance levees. It can also serve as temporary coffer
dams on construction sites. For more information, contact Leo
