OIL STOP Supplies CGA with 20,000 Feet of Auto Boom
Oil Stop Division of AMPOL, Harvey, Louisiana, recently completed delivery of 20,000 feet (6100 Meters) of Offshore Model Auto Boom oil spill containment boom to Clean Gulf Associates (CGA), New Orleans and Houma, Louisiana. Clean Gulf Associates is an oil and gas industry cooperative whose members contribute to share oil spill response resources in, and around, the Gulf of Mexico. The containment boom was purchased to replace CGA's aged inventory of "self-inflating" boom.
Auto
Boom (patented) is manufactured at Oil Stop's Harvey, La. facility.
With its single-point inflation, positive buoyancy, and low
maintenance Auto Boom proved to be the ideal replacement for the old
boom. The Auto Boom is provided in individual 500 feet long "Rapid
Pack" bundles. The Auto Boom in Rapid Pack configuration for
storage and deployment is completely compatible with CGA's existing
winders from the older boom. Also the Rapid Pack bundle arrangement
means that CGA only needs one winding machine to handle the booms
instead of multiple reels. This saves storage space and reduces
mechanical maintenance overall.
"The time had come for us to replace the old self-inflating boom with something that was familiar in operation and easier to maintain. Oil Stop and their Auto Boom came highly recommended to us. After evaluating the products on the market, our equipment committee agreed that the Auto Boom was the best option for us", said Frank Palmisano, Program Manager for Clean Gulf Associates.
